I am done with my graceless heart

Kinda given up on blogging this month until I get a new SLR camera, I can't cope with posting crappy pics so as soon as Christmas day has come and gone there will be an influx of posts, promise, I have so much to write about but without  my own pictures everything just looks wrong.

Meanwhile, I'm working hard, spending hard and trying to get my Christmas presents sorted. Always have problem with secret Santa - getting something nice for £5 IS SO HARD!

Also anyone else got the new Professor Layton game? I can't do it, my brain is like 'Why are you doing this to me?!' Aaannnd Just about to start reading 'The Hunger Games' as well not sure it'll be my cup of tea but I really feel like I need to do some proper reading not just magazines and blogs!

Here's a picture of my dog, she's the only one keeping me sane at the moment!

Everyone enjoy your Christmas/Holiday Celebrations!

Until next time

Weekly Want #5

Topshop - £125
I have been neglecting my blog for the past few weeks mainly due to the fact that I have a lack of a good camera and all I seem to be doing at the moment is working and sleeping! I'm blaming that on the dark nights and the clocks going back, confused my poor body clock.

I have so much stuff to blog about, realy need to crack on! Got myself most of the new Models Own 'Beetle Juice' collection, love it alot, and some new clothing that I should share. Also had a major mix up with Ark so now I have some duplicate dresses.. Unsure what to do with them i.e sell/giveaway/DIY them. We'll see, but I got them all refunded so doesn't matter all that much to me.

Anyway, just thought I'd just share this beautiful shiny dress, sparkly, sparkly! It's a bit expensive but, I was thinking how amazing this would be for NYE. After reading the reviews for this dress on the Topshop site I was put off a little, the comments weren't very positive and for the price you'd want it to be perfect!

Until next time

I put a spell on you

I know it's already the countdown to the next weekend but, thought I'd share what I did for the Halloween weekend.

We look pretty scary. huh?!

As you can see I went a little overboard with the black blusher (I have no idea where my cheekbones are, as far as I'm concerned I don't have any!) but it didn't matter too much, I was dead afterall!

I also did my nails all bloody aswell to fit in with the theme, they're pretty easy to do you just need a bit of patience waiting for them to dry

I've got talcum powder all round the edges from rubbing it in my hair :(

What did everyone else do for halloween? Would love to see any costumes or pumpkins made specially for the holiday :)

Weekly want #4

Topshop £34
Had to do another weekly want cos I mean, how cute are these babies?! I love anything with a cute print but these are ridiculous! They do these in a jean version also but, I think patterned and printed shorts are a lot more versatile, tights for winter, dressed up on a night out, bare legs and plain top for summer.

I need these in my wardrobe so bad! Might have to stick them on my topshop card (yes I have one but, I'm VERY sensible with it) seeing as i can't really justify buying shorts in October!

I'm heading up to Edinburgh for la weekend and can't wait, seeing as it's Halloween me and my friends are dressing up, we're being the living undead, being all gory and doing all our make-up should be fun :D I'll post a picture to show you how scary we look.

Happy Feet

My parents go away and they leave me with a selection box of biscuits and bacon, my family know me too well. There will be no biscuits left by tonight though, I'm telling you!
With the house to myself, I decided to give myself a quick pedicure here's my quick pedi method..
  • Fill a bowl with warm water and a drizzle of Olive oil and dip feet in
  • Leave for a good ten minutes to soften skin
  • Use a pumice stone to rub off any hard skin
  • Dry off feet with a towel and smoother in an intensive foot cream (I use Neutrogena nourishing foot cream)
  • Trim toenails and paint in your chosen colour (I did mine in Models Own - Mystic Mauve)
Et voile! Happy feet!

Sorry if you don't like feet!

Weekly want #3

Haven't posted for a while so thought I'd better post my weekly want! I've been after a satchel like this for a while (aka a Mulberry Alexa-like!) and this  is a lovely colour, it'll brighten up any outfit especially when it's so dull out. How cold has it got?! I do enjoy wrapping up warm and I've got my eye on soooo many coats but I know I shouldn't, must save money for Christmas shopping! I'm one of those people that leave things till last minute but this year I'm determined not to!

Just spotted some ombre jeans in River Island as well, I feel a DIY coming on!

Keep your head up, keep your heart strong

Actual LOL at my face behind

Sooo, got my hands on some magnetized nail varnish. It's 17 @ Boots and I got three colours (Blue, Lilac & Grey) as it was 3 for 2 :) I've got the Grey on my nails in the above picture and I love love love it, such a cheap and quick way of getting an effect that looks like it should have taken hours. Good if you're not fantastic at nail art or don't have the time.

This is also such a nicer effect than the crackle stuff that's around at the moment, I just don't like it at all (my Model's Own Smash-up hasn't grown on me unfortunately!) I'm pretty bored so I'm studding anything I can get my hands on, which means off to eBay I go to buy more denim and studs before I run out.

The details in the fabric

Dress - £45 Asos
I took these pics on my crappy finepix camera
so excuse the quality!

I saw this little number on asos a few weeks ago and thought it was a little pricey for what it is, so treated myself to it when I found a 20% off code that came through my post with my asos mag. I love the lace detail collar and around the sleeves, makes such a simple piece stand out. This colour is my favourite for autumn/winter I've been buying so much stuff in this shade.

I'm just having a quick look through the Asos mid-season sale at the moment, too much stuff I want! However, there's also stuff I've already got, one playsuit I got a few months ago is down to £8 from £40. Gutted! Looking through all the beauty stuff, which I usually skip and there are loads of brands that I wouldn't usually go for because of the price that are on sale such as OPI, Nails inc and Paul & Joe, so it's worth a rummage!

I also did a little bit of my hair bright pink the other day, you can just see it peeking through my hair, not sure whether to do all my dip dye pink or not!?!

Hotel California

Top - Topshop, Skirt - Motel
Please excuse the messy room -
I'm in the middle of a massive clear out :(

I Treated myself to this lovely skirt seeing as motel had 20% off for a few hours the other night, I absolutely love this print and am so tempted to get the jeans as well! Maybe when I feel a little more daring!

Can't wait to wear this skirt on a night out, body con skirts are my fail safe for a night out and it's nice to have one that's a little more jazzy that I can just wear with a block colour top. Really happy with the purchase as I always am with motel and can't wait to wear it out :)

She prefers two lumps of sugar and tea

So yesterday was mostly spent recouperating from Saturdays nights antics (which means lots of tea and a trip to Mcdonalds!). One of my besties turned 21 so it would have been rude to have not gone out and celebrated! I had such a good night (probably something to do with all the alcohol I consumed!), and it was the busiest I've seen derby for a long time. I think it's good to let your hair down every once in a while and it was nice to not have to work a Saturday night as well.
No Make-up and stiil in my PJ's at midday :)

I got myself a new outfit, managing to do it on a bit of a budget for a change! I got a top that I knew I'd wear again again (one reason being that it's leopard print!) so therefore that makes it amazing value in my eyes, it was £16.99 from New Look. I'm really getting into anything that's leather and black at the moment! I'm still after the perfect leather jacket but my money won't usually stretch far enough for me to treat myself to one :( anyway, I saw this skirt in primark, unfortunately it's not leather but it's looks pretty nice for something faux and it was only £14, I know I'll wear it again probably dressed down for daytime.

Finally, I've managed to get myself some plain black shoe boots! These babies were £24.99 from New Look and these will be worn until they break! I have quite an eclectic taste in heels but can never seem to find a trusty pair of black ones that I really like and are reasonably priced, however these totally fit the bill. New Look shoes don't usually tend to fit me well, a 6 being too small and a 7 too big, but these are a 6 and fit rather well. My feet are aching from them but that's what heels were mad to do, right?!

P.S - That nail varnish is the magnetized one I've been harping
on about from 17, look out for a review soon!

Weekly Want #2

Dress £45, Miss Selfridge

Everyone likes a pretty day dress and this one from Miss Selfridge is no exception. I saw it ages ago but resisted temptation in store, however I caved today and went to order it online (free delivery over £40 this weekend ;) ) but they only have it in size 4! I'll have to keep on eye on it and see if they get it back in stock and nap it up quick style! I've had a look around online and now I'm being tempted by some scallop edge shorts which I can't justify buying and I'm trying to be good but I my will power isn't strong enough to resist free delivery!

Hope you're all having a good Sunday :)

Nails, Nails, Nails

Today I got a little too excited about a post from Models Own on my facebook feed (the only good thing on my facebook feed, mind, but that's a whole other topic...) They're launching a collection called 'Beetlejuice' in early November and they are AMAZING, see for yourself.

L-R Golden Green, Pinky Brown, Purple Blue, Aqua Violet, Emerald Black

I'll admit the names aren't too imaginative compared to their other polishes (such as Juicy Jules, Raspberry Crush, Emerald City) but aren't they striking?! The middle three are just gorgeous, I'll definitely be buying them! Models Own are fast becoming a favourite of mine, their bold colours and variety match and probably outdo my trustworthy favourite, Barry M.

I'm also hoping that they bring out a range of magnetized polishes that we're seeing cropping up, Nails Inc's offering are lovely but I begrudge spending £13 on one nail varnish even if it is a special one! So instead I'm waiting on my nearest larger Boos Branch to stock the 17 magnetized nail varnishes, if you haven't seen them, check them out here. An absolute steal at £5.99, four colours and it's included in the 3 for 2 offer at the moment, I can't wait to try them!

Weekly Want #1

That time of year is upon us again, the time to purchase a new coat! It's not turned too cold just yet but, I think it's best to be prepared just in case we get a freak snow storm (it could happen!). So here's my pick; a beautiful camel coloured coat from Ark (the brand is Miss Real) which I think will go with all the lovely autumnal colours we're seeing at the moment and a colour and style like this will last a good few seasons so you'll get your monies worth and with it being priced at just £59.99 I think it's quite a good deal. The leopard print brings a little added extra to it aswell, I love coats that have collars like this or a nice fur trim round the hood or a checkered lining! I haven't seen it in my local ark yet so if they don't get it in I'll risk ordering it online. I can be anything from a size 6 - 10 depending on the brand and style of coat and there's nothing worse than a coat that's too tight.

Today has gone far too quickly already! Time to carry on cleaning (I'm having a mass clear out, I'm such a hoarder it's unbelievable!) and carry on with my knitting, I'll show you the finished piece when the time comes!

September 18, 2011

Nails for breakfast, Tacks for snacks.

Base colour - 17 @ Boots Fury, Spots - Barry M 136
Models Own - Juicy Jules, Barry M - Bright Purple (303)
Barry M - Pure Turquoise (295)

Ring - Miss Selfridge (£10)

I was hoping to do a piece on the jumpsuit I got delivered from Miss Selfridge yesterday, however it wasn't as I expected so it's being sent back! Never mind.. I also got the 'ring' in the above photo (not sure if it's got a more technical name?!) it is quite a statement piece of jewellery but I think I can pull it off with a simple outfit.

I'm off work at the moment which means I can have my nails painted, yay! So the first picture is my first attempt at Leopard nails! I really just wanted to try out the new 17 nail varnish i got, which you can get here, and it's really great, went on nice and didn't chip all that easily which isn't bad for £2.99. I've also purchased the 'Peacock' colour as well and that's a lovely iridescent green/blue. I only really bought the varnish so i could get a free lipstick with it as well (Shine on in 'Flirty') and it's the perfect colour for me, a dusky pink, exactly what I've been searching for :) There was a little confusion in boots when I went to pay for my items however, apparently the lip stick shouldn't have come free with nail varnish even though the voucher stated 'free with any 17 cosmetic purchase'. Turns out nail varnish isn't a cosmetic according to boots... anyway, after over-riding the till I thought the lady had sorted it all out, but she'd put the purchase through as a 3 for 2 offer, putting through 2 lipsticks and 1 nail varnish. So I got the nail varnish for free, but somehow only charged for one lipstick. All the wrong way round?! Might not seem like a big deal but the lipstick was nearer £5 than the £2.99 price of the nail varnish. After a bit of complaining to someone else I managed to get the difference back but I haven't got the foggiest what they were doing! Also, am I the only one in thinking that nail varnish is a cosmetic?! Or is it in it's own category?! I'll post some pictures later to show you what the lipsticks like (maybe I'll do a whole post on my favourites?)

Hopefully I'll be sorting myself out with a decent camera sometime soon, so I can do some 'Outfit' posts. In the meantime I'll be stealing my parents camera ;)

And one final thing! I'm on Instagram (as you can probably tell from the edited photos) if you want to follow me, feel free, @rebecca_jayne

September 17, 2011

She's like cold coffee in the morning..

So, here's my Models Own haul post! I'll be honest, I wasn't all to adventurous with my purchases! I already own loads of bright Barry M nail varnish so I went along the route of either sparkly or iridescent as most of my nail varnishes are matte and really bold, bright colours.

I purchased Green Tea, Smash up silver, Juicy Jules, Dusty Mauve, Mystic Mauve. I also received the Gun Grey nail varnish even though I didn't order it (I'd ordered some of the powder eyeshadow in 'Deep Mauve')but the item I did order got sent out to me quite quickly so I was impressed with that! As a bonus I got to keep the nail varnish too!

We'll start with 'Green Tea', this is a lovely bold green in the bottle but when put on nails it goes horribly matte and dull, was hoping it would have a nice shiny finish but was quite disappointed. Hopefully it'll be good for doing some nail art with (I'm thinking strawberries and watermelons XD) and with a coat of clear vanish over the top.

My favourites are defo Juicy Jules (so sparkly!) and Mystic Mauve, this is lovely and sparkly too! I've got Mystic Mauve on my toes at the moment and it looks great, hasn't chipped one bit either :)

Gun Grey is a lovely colour if you're not too sure about really dark nail varnish, breaks you in well as it's a little sparkly so it's more a dark silvery/grey. I think I'm going to wear it tonight with my hot pink playsuit :)

Now, on to the 'Smash up Silver', I've got a think against these smash up nail varnish. I think they should be called chipped up, cos that's what it looks like you've been doing to your nails! I thought I'd give this one a try, despite my reservations, as it was metallic and not a block colour and it did give a nice effect over the 'Gun Grey' varnish. Not sure  I'll be using this often but it's something I could introduce into my nail art I guess.

Above Green Tea, Gun Grey, Smash up silver, Juicy Jules, Dusty Mauve, Mystic Mauve

Above: Dusty Mauve, Juicy Jules, Gun Grey, Mystic Mauve

I also purchased the peach blush blusher, which again I'm not all too keen on. With being so pale I suit a flush of pink better than peachy tones. But, it's ok on me if I keep it to a minimal! The deep mauve eye powder I got separately (seeing as they missed it off my order!) is just sparkly enough to be noticed but not too much that it blinds everyone. It's a lovely deep purple that looks great against blue eyes, like my own :)

Overall, I'm quite impressed with the quality of Models Own and the products they have on offer. I'll definitely be buying 'Green Emerald' and 'Disco Mix' nail varnishes when they come back in stock!

Girls who play guitars.

Hi, my name's Rebecca and I've just started this blog up.. not sure kind of blog it'll be, fashion/make-up/lifestyle? We'll see what vibes I'm feeling. I think I'll start with a post about my Models Own haul, I know a lot of people took advantage of their 50% off sale so I'll share what I purchased too! Look out for it soon (once I've got the hang of this!) :)
